Making the Stop

Isabel "Izzy" Palmatier, a goalkeeper from Folsom, California, has rapidly emerged as a cornerstone of Sacramento State's women's soccer program. Palmatier's agility, resilience, and leadership have been instrumental in the Hornets' recent successes.

The 2024 season marked a significant leap in Palmatier's collegiate career. She earned the Big Sky Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week twice, first after a career-high 11-save performance in a scoreless draw against Cal Poly on August 29, and again following a shutout victory over Portland State in the regular-season finale on October 27. These accolades brought her career total to three, tying her for third-most in program history.

Palmatier's prowess was on full display during the 2024 Big Sky Conference Tournament. She recorded seven saves in a semifinal match against top-seeded Montana, leading to a penalty shootout victory. In the championship game against Idaho, her steadfast goalkeeping contributed to another shootout win, securing Sacramento State's first conference title since 2010.  Her exceptional performances earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Prior to Sac State Izzy played with San Juan Soccer Club where she was a two-time captain and was invited to the ECNL National Training Camp.  At Folsom High School she was a four-year varsity letterer, twice named to the All-Sierra Foothill League first team and was a three-time winner of the school’s Bulldog Spirit Award. Folsom High School is known as an athletic powerhouse in the greater Sacramento area having produced players in the NFL, NBA, MLS and other professional leagues.
