Love of the Game

Kailie Vongsaga started playing golf soon after she was able to walk.  Her father Jimmy is an avid golfer and wanted to pass on his love for the game to his daughter.  It's paying off in a big way for Kailie as she has made a name for herself in golf circles dating back to her childhood.

Kailie saw some of her earliest success when in 2009 she qualified for the Callaway Junior World Championship and finished 4th.  In 2011 she finished in the top 10 at three junior world championship events (Callaway Junior World in San Diego, FCG World Championship in La Quinta, and the US Kids Junior World Championship in Pinehurst).  She also took 2nd at the US Kids California State Championship and five other major competitions.

As a teenager, she expanded her skills and accolades. While at Diamond Bar High School in California it didn’t take her long to leave her mark on the program.  In 2015, as a freshman, she was named player of the year. Kailie would go on to win several tournaments including the Club Corp Mission Hills Desert Junior and the AJGA Junior at Superstition.  She HAS competed in multiple U.S. Women's Amateur including finishing 33rd in 2018 and tieing for 9th in 2021.

After high school, Kailie initially joined the University of Arizona Wildcats. She won the 2020 Arizona Wildcat Invitational as a freshman before transferring to the Ohio State University as a sophomore. While at Ohio State she was voted Big 10 Golfer to watch and thus far is a two-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete. She has started competing on the pro circuits and as of June 2022 has competed in five events.  This includes finishing 12th at the 2019 LGPA Founders Cup in Arizona where she finished 12th with a score of 68.

Kailie is the daughter of Jimmy Vongsaga and Kami Phomsouvanh.  Her father was born in Thakhek and her mother in Vientiane, Laos.
