Matigann Vixayvong

For Matigann Vixayvong, soccer has been a lifelong passion ignited by her father when she was just three years old. What began as a family pastime soon evolved into a full-fledged love for the game, paving the way for an extraordinary journey as a young athlete from Minneapolis, MN.

Matigann has been a standout player in the Elite Club National League (ECNL) for years. Her talent earned her an invitation to the prestigious ECNL Conference Cup in 2024, held at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California. Competing against the top 120 girls nationwide, she showcased her skills on an elite stage. Her achievements in ECNL include being named to the ECNL All-Conference First Team, a testament to her exceptional ability. She played at Holy Angels Academy and her accolades include All-State titles, All-Tournament Team honors, and All-Conference recognition. She was also ranked among the state’s top 25 soccer players and earned a coveted selection for the National High School All-American Game.

Matigann currently plays for the Minnesota Thunder Academy (MTA) in the ECNL platform and has previously competed in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and the Girls Academy League. Her commitment to continuous growth and development in soccer reflects her drive to succeed at the highest levels. In 2024, she chose to continue her academic and athletic journey at the University of Nebraska, drawn to its coaching staff, team culture, and vibrant campus in Lincoln, NE.

Matigann is not just a powerhouse on the field but also a well-rounded student-athlete. Attending a Catholic college preparatory high school, she has maintained a high GPA, exemplifying her dedication to academics alongside her soccer career. Her ultimate dream is to play professional soccer after college while maximizing her collegiate academic and athletic experience.

Matigann’s father was born in Pakse, Laos, and she has family in Vientiane.
